Pacers waived James Johnson.

Johnson, a positive voice in the Pacers’ locker room in recent years, was waived as the franchise finalized its Opening Night roster on Saturday. The team may bring him back later in the season if Johnson remains a free agent. However, because of salary cap implications, the Pacers will begin the season with 14 players on standard contracts instead of 15. The Pacers also waived Keba Keita and Rienk Mast, who were on Exhibit 10 contracts. Both are expected to play for the team’s G League affiliate. - Raphielle Johnson
